Open burning is not allowed within the City of Winooski.
Yard waste may be taken to the Wood & Yard Waste Depot, 181 Intervale Road in Burlington (on the left near the McNeil Generating Station). Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; phone: 864-7446.
Yard waste including leaves, grass clippings, pine needles and garden plants up to 1/2" in diameter are accepted at no charge. Up to 6 cubic yards of wood waste [tree limbs, trunks, clean stumps and brush] will be accepted at no charge; each yard of wood waste in excess of 6 cubic yards costs $5.00. Brush, tree trimmings, trunks & limbs are accepted up to 6 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter.
